PHOTOS!

Hi all! We're home and back to the daily grind. Thank you everyone for making our wedding so amazing! We only wish we'd had more time to hang out with everyone, especially those of you we rarely see to begin with. It all went by so fast, but it was the most beautiful blur imaginable. We had such a blast, and hopefully you did too!

Thus, I've finally devised a way we can all share our wedding pictures online, in order to keep those memories fresh in our minds. I've created a brand new flickr account for everyone to use. I've never uploaded photos onto flickr before today, and it was rediculously easy. To avoid requiring everyone to set up separate flickr accounts, we can all just use the same one. What I did was upload all my pictures as one "set". If we all do the same, we can keep each other's pictures separate.

If you'd just like to see the pictures, use this link.

(I've set the privacy on this set to "Private(only me)" and then made a guest pass by clicking on "share this" at the top right of the screen. You can do the same, or just set it to "Public")

If you want to upload your pictures just go to the sign in page, and enter "nicolaurora" as your ID, and "northernsky" as the password. Then click "Upload photos and videos" on the top right of the page. It's pretty self-explanatory.

Comment here if you encounter any problems, and I'll see what I can do!

week-away updates!

Hi ya'll! I can't tell you how excited I am! One week away. How did that happen?

There are just a few things you might need to know:

1- If you really have your heart set on drinking beer, you must provide your own. At the church committee's request, wine and mulled apple cider will be the only alcohol served in the church. Any other alcoholic beverages must be consumed discreetly outside of the building proper. IOW, tailgate, people.

2-The powerscourt bridge on the first concession is under construction, and thus blocking the regular route between my mom's (Sarah's) house and the church. Anyone planning on traveling in between either of these places will need to take a detour not shown on my pretty hand-drawn map. What a pity! Here's a link to what said detour will look like: THIS

3- Remember to drive SAFELY. There is a lot of wildlife in the area, including deer. I have personally had to slam on the brakes for a few in the past. And they come out of nowhere sometimes, so please be careful, especially when driving at night. Awesome, thanks.

4- Did I mention we have a fantastic band? Because we do. Lake of Stew.

welcome!

(Allo! Pour des instructions en français, cliquez ici.)

Welcome to our wedding blog!
The ceremony and the reception will be held at Zion United Church, in Dundee, Quebec. It's a small old Scottish church not far from my mom's house, which, weather permitting, will be the site of our post-reception bonfire/camp-out/jamboree. So if you play any instrument at all --guitar, slide-trombone, accordion
, rain-stick--ANYTHING-- I encourage you to bring it!

and where is this wedding exactly?

Zion United church is a small country church, on a small country road. It has no street address, but lies on the southeast corner of Montée Smallman and Chemin De Dundee Centre. It might be a little bit off the beaten path, but trust me, it's worth the (beautiful, scenic) drive!

Google map directions here.

car pool

Please please please. Save gas. Save the planet. And save some cash. The majority of wedding-goers will be heading out here from Montreal, so if you have a car and have a few empty seats, consider offering them up to some fellow travelers. Not only will you be doing the atmosphere a favor, but you also might make a new friend or two. Before you've even had your first glass of hard cider. Imagine.

If you need a lift, leave a comment.

If you can provide one, leave a comment.

Places to stay nearby

Here are a few possibilities for places to stay:

Kilbourn Manor- a B&B in Malone, NY (35 min drive*)

Park Street Inn
- another Malone B&B (35 min)

Hotel Plaza Valleyfield- if you're a city mouse who can't quite make it back to the city (49 min)

Manoir Lac St Fancois
- the closest place to stay, if not the most
conventional. Lol. (19 min)

*distance from the church. Time may vary if driving from the farm.

And keep in mind that for those with an adventurous heart and thick skin (or thin wallet!) there will be ample room to pop a tent back at my Mum's place! She has a nice big field with a bubbling brook and friendly cows across the fence. Of course, we can't promise that mother nature will be on our side. But that's part of the adventure, right?
